In 2020, the worldwide pandemic altered the course of all our lives. With all venues closed, tour cancelled, no work for the foreseeable future and in lockdown mode, my wife and soulmate, Susan and I were determined to bring some light to a dire situation. In my case, I began composing and arranging new material as well as reworking some older material which had never been recorded. One year later, 17 new works are the result, nine of which are featured here plus and arrangement of Erik Satie’s Gnossienne No. 1. I had not intended to write for this specific instrumentation, but the resulting compositions spoke to me of an electrified sound and a fusion of jazz and world music. Because of their excellent musicianship and flexibility through different genres of music, Dimi, Yayo, and Michael turned out to be the perfect cats to help bring this music to life. The result is a musical journey to the Caribbean, South America, The Middle East and Europe as well as 3 tracks that are inspired by American, blues-based genres such as Funk, Shuffle, and Hard Rock. We had a lot of fun recording in Nolan Shaheed’s No Sound Studio and my hope is that feeling will come across the audio spectrum to you. This is not necessarily music to sit still and listen to. So, feel free to get your dancing shoes on and, in the immortal words of KC and the Sunshine Band, “Shake Your Booty!”
